It's time to take three weeks of holidays for the French Roast team. We will be back on the 11th of August but during the next 3 weeks, we will propose replay of some of our programmes.

Special Netball

 

Interview: Lola Diaz & Jodi Brown
Lola Diaz is a french student of 17 years old, coming from Ardeche Region in France. She arrived in Dunedin last January for a year of study in Queen High School in Dunedin. She loves sport and practices Basket-ball in France since she was 4. Here in NZ, she started playing Netball, Rugby.

Jodi Brown

Jodi Brown is a New Zealand netball player. She was a member of the New Zealand national netball team, the Silver Ferns from 2002–07, earning 28 caps. She has also played elite domestic netball in New Zealand for 13 years, and has signed with the Southern Steel for 2012.

Netball Rules :
Netball is a ball sport played by two teams of seven players. Its development, derived from early versions of basketball, began in England in the 1890s. By 1960, international playing rules had been standardised for the game, and the International Federation of Netball and Women's Basketball (later renamed the International Netball Federation (INF)) was formed. As of 2011, the INF comprises more than 60 national teams organized into five global regions.

Netball court

Games are played on a rectangular court with raised goal rings at each end. Each team attempts to score goals by passing a ball down the court and shooting it through its goal ring. Players are assigned specific positions, which define their roles within the team and restrict their movement to certain areas of the court. During general play, a player with the ball can hold onto it for only three seconds before shooting for a goal or passing to another player. The winning team is the one that scores the most goals. Netball games are 60 minutes long. Variations have been developed to increase the game's pace and appeal to a wider audience.

Interview: Gaspard Marjollet et Sébastien Dhers
Gaspard comes from Rhône-Alpes region in France. He is working for a travel agency at Dunedin. He loves sport and he will share his experience of tennis, soccer, rugby, and cycle ball!
 
Sébastien comes from Midi-Pyrénées region in France.

He is working at the University of Otago where he is doing his PHD in chemistry. As Gaspard, he is a sport fanatic!

Interview: Stéphanie Desjardins & Haseeb Randhawa, Claire Fennebresque
Stéphanie Desjardins and her husband Haseeb Randhawa live together at Dunedin with their children. Haseeb is Senior Teaching Fellow for department of Botany at the University of Otago. Stéphanie was pastry chef and now she takes care of their children.

Claire Fennebresque is French and lives in Canada (Montreal) for 4 years, where she is working as translator. She tells us her experience with the Acadie culture and Canadian culture.
